ALMUÑECAR RIDE CAMP APRIL 2022

Overview:

Our Ride Camp Almuñécar offers the opportunity to go into a professional cycling team, sharing anecdotes and pedal with professional riders and receiving a highly personalized support from the Team Staff. The 4,700 meters of positive climb and the 335 kilometers ride along the hilly roads of the Andalusian coast, with temperatures around 20 °C in April, make this Ride Camp the perfect tour to get in shape before good weather comes to the rest of Europe. The hard climbs of Sierra Nevada and funny descents are part of the carefully designed cycling routes between Granada and Málaga, which will share stretches with La Vuelta España and Vuelta Andalucía stages

Not all in this experience will be about pedal since a gastronomic experience in a traditional Andalusian restaurant and a Flamenco performance are included in the trip to have a better knowledge about this village, plenty of evidence of the Moorish civilization heritage. The Hotel Helios Costa Tropical, will be the accommodation to the trip, having the possibility of enjoying the first beach line location or getting delighted by the sights from the rooftop jacuzzi. Non-rider participants also have a place in this unique experience, and a wide variety of activities is available for them.

Share rides with our pro riders:

This Camp has been thought for intermediate level riders. Being accompanied by 2 of our professional riders in every moment, the 4 days on the saddle will bring the chance of knowing the most remarkable climbs of the area while having coffee stops in local bars. Different groups will be created on the climbs if the pace of the riders is different. We´ll provide you with everything you need for a perfect nutrition and hydration on route.

Day 1:
Salobreña, Ítrabo, Jete. 65 km, 770 m.

Day 2:
Nerja, Torrox, Frigiliana. 80 km, 1,377 m.

Day 3:
Vélez de Venaudalla, Órgiva, Lanjarón. 106 km, 1,341 m.

Day 4:
Salobreña, Motril, Calahonda, Castell de Ferro. 84 km, 1,226 m.

Supported by Burgos Bh Team Infrastructure:

The whole Ride Camp will be supported by the team infrastructure. During the rides, bikes and spare wheels will be ready in the support car that will follow the group in every moment. Back at the Hotel, a mechanic will be in charge of washing and reviewing every bike to make sure it is 100% ready for the next day. Team masseurs will be responsible for the nutrition and hydration during the route. Needless to say that they will be happy to give tips and assistance to the participants in every moment.

Food and accommodation:

Helios Costa Tropical Hotel (***)

Located on the first line of the sea and fully refurbished, the Hotel Helios Costa Tropical will be home for the Ride Camp. This accommodation already known by a few world tour riders, offers an outstanding buffet service in breakfast, lunch and dinner, including local and international dishes. Naturally, breakfasts can be tailored before the rides and less cycling friendly dishes can be enjoyed after a long day pedaling. The facilities of the Hotel include a specific bike room storage, swimming pool, and a rooftop bar.

Restaurante Los Geraneos, Traditional Andalusian Cuisine

The carefully handpicked “Geraneos Restaurant”, based on traditional Andalusian cuisine, will be home for the group to ensure a good recovery after the ride. This well rated restaurant is noted not only by the cuisine but also by its particular and cozy interior courtyard. Premium red and white wines will accompany the grilled octopus, fillet steak or the traditional gazpacho to create an unforgettable gastronomic experience.

Bike hire (optional):

In partnership with Bike2Malaga, we offer the chance to hire BH Quartz road bikes. With carbon fiber frame and Shimano Ultegra group set, these carefully maintained bikes will be available at the Hotel Helios if they have been booked before.

Non rider participants:

Non rider participants also have their own space in this tour. While bike routes take place, those who are not so keen on suffering on the saddle will have a wide selection of activities to make in Almuñécar and its nearby area. From snorkel, diving lessons or kayaking in Almuñécar to visiting the amazing World Heritage Site of The Alhambra in Granada or the fascinating coastal city of Málaga by public transport, the possibilities are abundant so they can have as much fun as the riders. A personalized book with the summary of the activities will be given to the participants. The transfers between the airport and the hotel, full board, gastronomic experience and flamenco performance are included for the non-rider participants.
